Tom Townsend has been a professional novelist and freelance writer for over twenty years. He is the author of 28 books, including seventeen novels. Published by Eakin Press, Zebra, Royal Fireworks, and Pageant Books, the books encompass genres including juvenile, young adult, mainstream, historical romance, and dark fantasy, and have received numerous awards. Over 100,000 copies of his books are currently in print, and fourteen of his books are on the accelerated reading Program in the Texas School system. Two of his books are currently under development as motion pictures.
Throughout the Southwest, he is one of the best known juvenile authors, and many of his books are used as supplemental reading in school systems of Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. He has toured extensively in these school systems, and performed for well over a million students in the past twelve years. Tom Townsend performs seven different programs in schools, such as Jean Lafitte, Davy Crockett , Meet the Author and military history. He also directs several military living history programs offered as field trips or on location at schools. Tom Townsend has many varied business interests. He owns Toyland Combat Vehicles, which provides military vehicles, weapons systems and reenactors to the motion picture industry. The sister company, Toyland Productions, produces and distributes documentaries and historical videos, such as "Pacific Fury", "Jean Lafitte, Texas Hero" (Tom performs as Jean Lafitte), and others. Toyland Farms (started by Tom's wife Jan), raises and sells miniature horses and cattle. |
